Long Distance Date Night Idea: Sleep Together

Posted by LD Diva on July 18th, 2007

If you both have free nights and weekend minutes, pick an evening to “sleep together”. Basically, cuddle up in bed with the phone and don’t hang up until you fall asleep or until the phone cuts off.cellphone.jpg

You don’t have to worry about talking the whole time, once you get sleepy say “goodnight” just don’t hang up the phone. This works especially well if both of you have a speaker phone option.

Warning, this is addictive so if you do it once you’ll probably find yourself wanting to do it practically every night…I did!

I live with my boyfriend now, but we were a long-distance couple for the first six months of our relationship. I was on east coast time so when he called (west coast time) I was long asleep; but I’d always pick up so I could fall back asleep again to the sound of his voice.

A long distance relationship isn’t easy but it’s not impossible. I did it for 2 1/2 years and we’ve now been together for 13. You have to accept that you aren’t together and cherish the moments that you are - through email, chat, video or phone. Flat screen can lead to misunderstandings so don’t be tough on each other.
I like your blog and will link one of your posts from my blog at feelingflirty.com and I’d appreciate it if you could do the same. Let me know at feelingflirty@gmail.com.

my husband and i do this and it works
it helps me feel closer to him because i can hear him breathing and every little toss and turn he does in bed at nite and i slept better at times i even get a little lite snore out of him. long distance is so hard
but you have to get creative in order for it to work.

My fiance’ and I have been doing the LDR thing for alittle over two years….Having the computer in our rooms and webcam on 24/7 helps alot…we see eachother everyday and when we sleep and wake in the night we can still see eachother…I hear him toss and turn, grind his teeth, talk in his sleep…if we cant be together yet…this is as close as it gets, and hes not stealing my blanket =D..Good Luck to all, very stressful but worth it.

My fiance & I did this every night before he left for deployment. I loved doing it! It made us sleep better & feel closer to each other. I never realized how much I needed it, but now that we can’t do it, I miss it so much. Long distance relationships are hard, but they can be some of the best relationships ever. They make you stronger as a couple & as an individual. We have been in a long distance relationship for almost 2 years now. We are getting married in about 5 months when he gets back so we won’t have to do it anymore… for now.
