True Life- Do Long Distance Relationships Work?
With so much “it will never work” going on, I always find it inspiring whenever I hear of a successful long distance relationship.
“Terry and I survived nine years long distance, visiting every three months or so, while I finished my undergraduate degree, my masters and then chose to get my Ph.D. in hearing research. In September 2003, I was able to get a post-doctoral position in Detroit and move to Michigan on a work visa. We had a wedding ceremony in front of 180 guests and began building a home and a life together.”
Nine years?!??! Talk about beating the odds. But there’s more to this interesting little story. You can read the rest here.

A long distance relationship isn’t easy but it’s not impossible. I did it for 2 1/2 years and we’ve now been together for 13. You have to accept that you aren’t together and cherish the moments that you are - through email, chat, video or phone. Flat screen can lead to misunderstandings so don’t be tough on each other.
