How Do You Survive Time Apart

Posted by LD Diva on August 7th, 2007

A poster on LovingYou.com had a few questions about making the most of a long distance relationship. Their comments are in bold, my response follows.

How do you get a grip, especially when he/she is not the kind to give verbal assurances.

– Communication is key. If you need verbal assurances then you need to tell them that.

How do you make ends meet when plane tickets cost a fortune?

– The earlier you book a flight, the cheaper it is. Also there’s the option of working more, cutting back on things, and/or a combo of both.

And the weight of the decision of “to move or not to move” on a daily basis?

– If this is a serious relationship and by serious I mean lifetime then eventually someone will have to move. The key is finding out what makes the most sense in terms of who should move.

Tell me why don’t you guys just try to find someone closer?

– Because I don’t want “someone closer” I want the man I am committed to.

Why does it have to be so hard?

–Life is hard. Relationships in general are hard. LDR’s are no exception.
