How Did You Make Your Long Distance Relationship Work?

Posted by LD Diva on August 23rd, 2007

My LDR worked because failing was not an option. We both had the commitment and determination to see it through. I also believe that setting up rules from the beginning was key. Without those rules I know it would have been a lot more difficult to make it.

Also, knowing that this was not a long term solution helped pass the time. I can’t imagine being in a long distance relationship without have a general idea about when the long distance part would end. However, I think there’s a great distinction between a long distance relationship and long distance dating.

I am not a fan of dating in general so I have no idea how to make a distance dating situation endure. In fact, I am not convinced that long distance dating situations are even worth it because dating lacks the commitment factor. And what’s the point of being someone’s mental or verbal jump off when you aren’t sure if they are getting other aspects from someone local?

Yes! I agree with you that having a long distance relationship definitely need rules and commitment.

I had a long distance relationship before with someone. But there are no commitment from her and no rules set between us. So, it didn’t work out in the end.

It’s a great thing you can find someone who you are committed to and someone who committed to it as well. Thanks for sharing this post and I enjoy it!

You are quite welcome!

I do agree and mostly about the needing to have an end point to the long distance. I have an LDR for over 2 years now. I thought there would be an end soon and now my BF tells me the next 2 years are ONLY 3 hours drive away and i should be happy! Obviously i am not…
