College Romance Fizzles

Posted by LD Diva on September 10th, 2007

From the forums at LovingYou.com - “I just moved into my dorm room at college and I miss my boyfriend terribly. I know that we are young and that i’m not that far away, but things are still so difficult. He does not have a working computer so we can’t use a webcam or anything like that. We both have school all day and work at night so we don’t have much opportunity to talk. What things can we do to keep our relationship strong?”

A: You may think you need a computer to keep it going strong but that’s not necessarily true. If you’ve read any of my advice before you know that I am a big fan of writing letters. I think this is one of the most important things you can do in a long distance relationship. I also think that occasionally sending a card is a nice gesture. Since you both have a packed schedule you all need to come up with a time where you can talk every day. Maybe you can wake up 10 minutes earlier and start your day off with a quick chat. Then perhaps at night you can set aside a time before you go to bed. If you both have cell phones consider sending a text message at lunch just to let them know you are thinking of them. What’s the most important thing to keeping the relationship strong? Making time to communicate no matter what.
