Poof! It’s Over

Posted by LD Diva on September 28th, 2007

“I have just went through a LDR for over a year… and what I think I cannot take the most about a LDR will be that it can all be over just by stopping all communication. If the BF or GF decides it is OVER… POOF … all it takes is to stop talking. You have no control of it… they don’t answer the phone.. they don’t text you back.. a year of your life wasted… and a phone is the only connection you have to keep the relationship alive. You will not see them in the local market or grill… you will not see them at church.. you will not see them on the road… you will not see them at the post office.. The relationship can end just by not answering the phone. Has anyone experienced this and how do you handle it?”

I’d say if someone just stops talking to you with no warning then good riddance! Though this may seem like a problem that’s unique to long distance relationships, it’s really not. You could be in a relationship with someone you know from around the corner and they could all of a sudden stop the communication. It happens all of the time. That doesn’t mean you wasted a year of your life, because if you take time to reflect I’m sure you’ve learned something.

As for the not being able to see them after they stop talking to you, I’d say that’s a good thing. Why would you want to be around a person who obviously doesn’t want to be around you? Do you think that by seeing them in person you are going to change their mind? Do you think that confronting them will help? It may make you feel good for a few seconds until you realize that you are much better than that.

So instead of looking at long distance relationships being cursed because of the potential breakup factor; look at it as a blessing. Not having to see a jerk who obviously doesn’t respect you is a good thing.
