How Do I Respond To Mean Comments From Friends?

Posted by LD Diva on February 8th, 2008

Q: How do you cope when a friend tells you your relationship isn’t going to work and they say it right in front of your boyfriend? We had a small argument and then out of the blue my friend said that our relationships is crap and we aren’t going to make it. I know he was as mad as I was. What should I do?

A: It depends. Sometimes it’s not even worth a response. However if it’s a constant thing with this friend then you need to tell this person that when you are seeking an opinion on the status of your relationship then you’ll ask. End it with a sweet smile.

You also have to determine a persons motive. Not just with your friend, but with everyone because people will always have a ton to say about your long distance relationship.

If you can tell that the person is just trying to be helpful then it’s no sense in getting upset. Just listen, and if they have valid concerns feel free to address them. But if someone is just being nasty about it, then tell feel free to use the same statement I gave above.
