3 Ways To Take Your Bonding to a Deeper Level

Posted by LD Diva on March 3rd, 2008

I’ve given quite a few ideas on how to keep your long distance relationship interesting and spicy, but now it’s time to give a few more.

1) Find an e-newsletter you both can relate to. I never thought of this while I was in a long distance relationship, but now that we are married we both subscribe to a relationship e-newsletter filled with tips. The good thing is that there’s one for men and one for women so a few times a week we discuss what we learned from the newsletters. The best thing about it is that most online newsletters are free and this tip would work very well in a long distance situation. It’d give you a routine to look forward to, and you wouldn’t have those “ummm what am I supposed to talk about?” moments.

2) Do you go to church? Does your significant other? Maybe you can go together if you find an online church that fits your faith. There’s only one that I know of, LifeChurch, (which is a Christian church) and I like it because you aren’t just staring at a computer screen. There are ways for you to interact before and after the services. Also, there are local chapters of the church. I’m sure you can find other online churches if you look hard enough.

3)Be the first and last. If this fits with your schedule try to make your significant other the first person you talk to in the morning, and the last person you talk to before you go to sleep. The chats don’t have to be long, 60 seconds will do. But it’s a nice feeling in the morning when you get that quick call that says “I was thinking about you.” This tip was one of the best things that we decided to do as a couple. Don’t think that being in different time zones completely gets you off the hook. It doesn’t because there are always ways to compromise.

The last idea is great idea and most of all it’s a can-do. So I might actually try that.
