There’s nothing wrong with finding a date online. True, you have to be careful, but you have to be careful no matter where you meet a person. The person you meet at a bar can be just as crazy as a person you meet on the net.
However there are some extra precautions you should take when dating online.
Be honest but not too specific- Don’t lie but you don’t need to reveal every single detail about yourself. For example, you don’t need to list the name and location of your company on your profile, or tell someone that as soon as you start talking to them. “Oh I work at Foxes on Maple Street”. Instead, you can tell the industry.
Use a cell phone- Don’t give out your home phone number, especially if it’s listed. Use a cell phone or an internet service like Google Talk that lets you redirect calls from one number to another.
Leave your kids out of your photos- We all love kids but keep them out of your profile photos.
